Accessibility Statement
Last updated: April 9, 2026
1. Our Commitment
Lamb's Florist is committed to ensuring that our website is accessible to everyone, including people with disabilities. We believe that all individuals deserve equal access to information and functionality on the web, and we strive to provide an inclusive digital experience for all visitors regardless of ability or technology.
Accessibility is not a one-time effort but an ongoing commitment. We have invested in designing, developing, and maintaining this website with accessibility as a core principle, and we continually work to identify and remove barriers that may prevent individuals with disabilities from fully engaging with our content and services.
2. Conformance Status
This website aims to conform to the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 at Level AA, published by the World Wide Web Consortium (W3C). WCAG 2.1 Level AA is widely recognized as the international standard for web accessibility and is referenced by many laws and regulations around the world.
WCAG 2.1 is built around four core principles, commonly known as POUR:
- Perceivable: Information and user interface components must be presented in ways that users can perceive. This includes providing text alternatives for non-text content, captions for multimedia, and ensuring content is adaptable and distinguishable.
- Operable: User interface components and navigation must be operable by all users. This includes keyboard accessibility, adequate time for interactions, avoidance of seizure-inducing content, and navigability.
- Understandable: Information and the operation of the user interface must be understandable. This includes readable text, predictable navigation, and input assistance for forms.
- Robust: Content must be robust enough to be reliably interpreted by a wide variety of user agents, including assistive technologies.
While we strive for full Level AA conformance, we acknowledge that some areas of the website may not yet fully meet every success criterion. We are committed to continually improving accessibility and addressing any gaps identified through testing or user feedback.
3. Accessibility Features
The following accessibility features have been implemented throughout our website:
Navigation & Structure
- Skip to Content: A "Skip to main content" link is provided as the first focusable element on every page, allowing keyboard and screen reader users to bypass repetitive navigation menus.
- Semantic HTML: The site uses proper heading hierarchy (h1 through h6), landmark elements (header, nav, main, footer), lists, and other semantic elements to provide a meaningful document structure for assistive technologies.
- ARIA Landmarks & Roles: Appropriate ARIA (Accessible Rich Internet Applications) roles and attributes are used throughout the site, including banner, navigation, main, contentinfo, dialog, and button roles, to supplement semantic HTML and improve screen reader navigation.
- Consistent Navigation: Navigation menus appear in a consistent location on every page, and interactive elements follow predictable patterns.
- Page Titles: Each page has a unique, descriptive title that identifies its content and purpose.
Keyboard Accessibility
- Full Keyboard Navigation: All interactive elements, including links, buttons, form fields, menus, and lightbox controls, are accessible via keyboard using Tab, Shift+Tab, Enter, Space, and Arrow keys.
- Visible Focus Indicators: Clear, high-contrast focus outlines are displayed on all focusable elements when navigating by keyboard, ensuring users can always identify their current position on the page.
- Escape Key Support: Modal dialogs, dropdown menus, and the photo lightbox can be closed using the Escape key.
- Logical Tab Order: The tab order follows the visual reading order of the page, ensuring a natural and intuitive navigation flow.
- No Keyboard Traps: Users can navigate freely in and out of all components without getting trapped in any element.
Visual Design
- Color Contrast: Text and interactive elements maintain contrast ratios that meet or exceed WCAG AA requirements (4.5:1 for normal text, 3:1 for large text and UI components).
- Resizable Text: The site uses relative font sizes (rem units) that respect user browser settings. Content remains usable when text is zoomed up to 200%.
- No Color-Only Information: Information is never conveyed solely through color. Visual indicators such as icons, text labels, and patterns are used alongside color.
- Responsive Design: The layout adapts gracefully to different screen sizes, orientations, and zoom levels, from mobile phones to large desktop monitors.
- Reduced Motion: Animations are designed to be non-essential and decorative. Users with motion sensitivity who have set "prefer-reduced-motion" in their system settings will experience a more static presentation.
Images & Media
- Alternative Text: All meaningful images include descriptive alt text that conveys the content and function of the image. Decorative images are marked with empty alt attributes so they are ignored by screen readers.
- Image Lightbox: The gallery lightbox is fully keyboard accessible, with support for navigation between images and closing via keyboard.
Forms & Interactive Elements
- Form Labels: All form inputs have clearly associated labels that are programmatically linked for screen readers.
- Error Identification: Form validation errors are clearly identified and described in text, with focus directed to the relevant field.
- Button Labels: All buttons have accessible labels, either through visible text or aria-label attributes for icon-only buttons.
4. Assistive Technology Compatibility
This website is designed to be compatible with the following assistive technologies and browsers:
- Screen Readers: NVDA (Windows), VoiceOver (macOS/iOS), and TalkBack (Android).
- Voice Recognition: Dragon NaturallySpeaking and built-in voice control features in modern operating systems.
- Screen Magnification: ZoomText, Windows Magnifier, macOS Zoom, and browser-based zoom.
- Keyboard-Only Navigation: Full functionality is available without a mouse.
- Switch Access: The site's logical structure and standard controls support switch access devices.
We recommend using the latest versions of modern browsers (Chrome, Firefox, Safari, Edge) for the best experience with assistive technologies.
5. Known Limitations
While we strive for comprehensive accessibility, we are aware of the following limitations:
- Embedded Maps: Our location pages include embedded Google Maps iframes. While these maps provide valuable location context, the maps themselves are operated by Google and may not be fully accessible with all assistive technologies. Service area information is also provided in text form alongside the maps.
- Gallery Image Descriptions: While all gallery images include alt text describing the arrangement, the descriptions may not capture every visual detail. We continue to improve these descriptions.
- Animation Timing: Some scroll-triggered animations may not respect prefers-reduced-motion in all cases. We are working to ensure full motion preference compliance.
6. Testing & Evaluation
We employ the following methods to evaluate and maintain the accessibility of this website:
- Automated Testing: Regular scans using automated accessibility testing tools to identify common issues such as missing alt text, color contrast failures, and missing form labels.
- Manual Testing: Periodic manual testing using keyboard-only navigation and screen readers to evaluate the real-world user experience for people who rely on assistive technologies.
- Code Review: Accessibility best practices are integrated into our development process, with code reviewed for semantic HTML, ARIA usage, and keyboard interaction patterns.
- WCAG Checklist: Content and features are evaluated against the WCAG 2.1 Level AA success criteria checklist during development and updates.
7. Feedback & Reporting Barriers
We welcome your feedback on the accessibility of this website. If you encounter any accessibility barriers, have difficulty accessing any content or feature, or have suggestions for improvement, please contact us:

8. Third-Party Content
Our website may include content or functionality provided by third parties, such as embedded Google Maps and links to our Facebook page. While we choose third-party services with accessibility in mind, we cannot guarantee that all third-party content meets the same accessibility standards as our own content.
If you encounter accessibility issues with third-party content on our site, please let us know and we will work to provide the information or functionality through an alternative, accessible means.
